Marriott Newport Coast Resort
Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas sits on a bluff above the Newport Coast, with views that can include Pelican Hill Golf Course, the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. The Tuscan-inspired resort is arranged across a hillside, so the experience and views vary considerably by building and villa location.
The entrance is designed as a country road that leads through the outskirts of the village to the town center. Highlighted by imported, mosaic ceramic tile and decorative woodwork, the main registration building includes a spa, fitness center, and separate activity rooms for kids, teens, and adults. Outside, amid the landscaping and walkways lined with rustic, interlocking stone pavers, sit two Jacuzzis, three pools, and imported, hand-chiseled fountain of Triton, the Greek god of the sea, and a koi pond.
Choosing the Best Building
The resort’s villa buildings are spread across a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Pelican Hill Golf Course. Building location can make a significant difference in views, walking distance, elevator access, proximity to pools and overall convenience. For detailed building-by-building recommendations, see our Marriott Newport Coast Villas Building Guide & Map. Specific building and villa requests are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.

Most buildings have elevators and self-serve bellman luggage carts available. There is an ice machine in each building and an area to drop off trash.
There are many conveniently located gas grills and patios by all buildings throughout the property. Billed as a smoke free property, there is smoking allowed in several designated outside areas throughout the resort.

Two-Bedroom Villas
Our separate building guide compares individual buildings by location, ocean views, pools, elevators, walking distance and other considerations.
What the Villas Include
The resort’s villas are designed for families and groups, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, separate living and dining areas, a full kitchen, in-villa washer and dryer, sofa bed, and a furnished balcony or terrace. Layout details, furnishings and views can vary by villa.
The separate common area includes a full kitchen, a washer and dryer for laundry, dining table for six, a pull-out sofa in the living room, and a balcony with tables and chairs. The kitchen has a full refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker (3 ground coffee bags provided), toaster, and a full suite of silverware, glasses, pots, pans and more.
The master bedroom has a California King bed, dresser with a TV on top, closet, in-room safe, double vanities, a huge shower with two shower heads on opposite ends, and a oversized soaking tub. The second bedroom has a queen bed, dresser with TV on top, closet and a pull-out sofa. The second bathroom is accessible from the second bedroom and living room with a sink and a bathtub/shower combination.
Villas include televisions and entertainment options, but specific television sizes, apps and connectivity features can change as rooms are updated.

Marriott currently lists housekeeping service every other day. Additional bedding and family-related room requests are subject to availability, so confirm specific needs with the resort before arrival.
Not all rooms have views of the ocean but some have better views than others. Views range from no ocean view to full 180° ocean views. Some rooms overlook the pools and Pelican Hill Golf Course, and others have obstructed views from trees and other buildings.
Marriott Newport Villas Pools

There are three main pool areas: Catalina Pool, Canyons Pool, and Coast Pool and Splash Pad. Pool conditions, operating hours and individual amenity availability can vary, so check the current resort schedule during your stay.
Pool hours can change by season or operating conditions; confirm the posted hours at the resort.

Best Time to Visit Newport Coast
The summer months are easily the most popular times to visit Newport Coast because the weather is at its warmest of the year and the ocean is comfortable for swimming.
Year-round the weather is considered mild, but the Newport Coast can have more inclement weather from the cold ocean waters and cloudy days. Cloudy skies in the morning can be the norm until the they burn off throughout the day. June can sometimes bring overcast days, which locals refer to as the “June Gloom.”
The best time to visit Newport Coast is from July through September. Both the ocean water and weather are warmer.
Both the spring and the fall bring far fewer visitors to the area than the summer months, but travelers can still enjoy average daytime temps of 70 degrees or higher.
From Halloween to Christmas there are many holiday events, festive theme parks, boat parades and parties – and lights galore. Winter weather ranges from the low 40s to the 60s.
Airports
John Wayne and Long Beach are the nearest Southern California airports and very easy airports to get in and out of. Los Angeles (LAX) and San Diego (SAN) airports are further away, more difficult to get in and out of but may offer more direct and cheaper flights.
Local Airports (closest first):

From the island, take the ferry to Balboa Peninsula and enjoy the Balboa Fun Zone and surf.
Nearby Laguna Beach is famous for its beaches, tidepools, artists, art galleries, and art festivals.
Plan a day trip to drive along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) or head for the surf at Newport Beach, Huntington Beach or Laguna Beach. For water activities consider a dolphin and whale-watching boat trip, Duffy Boat rental, paddle boarding or surf lessons.
