Breweries in Anaheim

The La Palma Beer Trail consists of a 4 mile stretch of breweries all off La Palma Ave. Starting in Northeast Anaheim there are two within walking distance from each other; Asylum Brewing and Bottle Logic. A short skip from there is Brewery X and further down the La Palma Trail, heading east, you’ll find Bruery Terreux, Stereo Brewing and All-American Brew Works.

About: Mead is basically a wine made from fermented honey, water and yeast. Brewery enthusiasts will be quick to point out this not a brewery but it is one of the only places in Orange County to try crafted meads and ciders. Plus, it’s on the La Palma Beer Trail (next to All-American Brew Works) and a great stop to mix-into a brew tour. Features at Honey Pot include a tasting room, TV screens for sports, video game consoles (free to play), a taco truck schedule and movie and trivia nights.

About: Widely considered to be San Diego’s first microbrewery, Karl Strauss (real person and master brewer) made its debut in 1989. The Anaheim brewpub layout features an outdoor patio, tasting room-like bar area with 24 taps for guests to enjoy an ever-changing list of rotating beers. With reclaimed wood and exposed brick, the space has an industrial feel that includes garage doors which open to a large outdoor patio overlooking Angel Stadium. About: Gunwhale built a reputation on unique beers such as the Bait Ball IPA and its rotating Hazy IPAs, accompanied by a focus on farmhouse style beers such as Hayshaker (GABF 2018 Bronze – Classic Saison) and The Fun Zone (Barrel Aged Mixed Fermentation Grisette). The tap room isn’t as large as their second location but there is also an outside patio, with a long bench and wrought iron chair seating as well as handmade stump tables. They don’t serve food but have a rotating food truck schedule and food can be ordered as well. Gunwale: The upper edge of the side of a boat or ship and also slang for ‘loaded to the gunwhales’ which meant overflowing or having had a few too many drinks.

About: As their name suggests you’ll find craft beer and a lot of board games here. This Laguna Hills brewery features games like Backgammon, Connect Four, Exploding Kittens and Cards Against Humanity to play while drinking a pint. The beers are mostly IPAs and German-style lagers, but the brews provide something for everyone. The food is traditional brewery grub — pretzel bites, flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, and chicken wings — along with Asian- and Latin-influenced dishes like nachos, fried wontons, bánh mì (Vietnamese sandwiches) and empanadas. The space is open and modern – you can sit at the bar or outside, and reserve the room for large parties or events with ample parking.

About: First we have to begin with the name, if you’ve lived in the OC for any length of time you’re most likely familiar with the wild, loud and green parrots that fly above the county. If not, then the name may not resonate but for OC locals it certainly does. Now to the beer, Green Cheek is mainly known for and serves IPAs. From hazy to West Coast they’ve got it covered but they also have Mexican lagers, sours ales and oatmeal stouts. The tasting room is pet- and child-friendly and a great place to stop before a Ducks game. There’s a separate bar for Crowler and Growler fills, and food trucks are available, or you can bring your own grub.
