The 33,000 square-foot former Modern Times Leisuretown located in Anaheim has been transformed into Villains Brewing. While the venue still features a Palm Springs style pool, an open-air seating area adorned with stylish shipping containers, a complete brewery, and a 1911-era Craftsman-style home, there are many updates as well.
As you explore the brewery, you’ll notice charming nods to your beloved villains, with each tap handle representing a different iconic character. The spacious venue provides a multitude of cozy corners and hidden spots, including comfortable couches on the upper level where you can take in the entire ambiance.
For a quick and convenient meal, their fast casual food hall serves up delicious and satisfying dishes, perfect for those on the go. If you prefer a more relaxed and immersive dining experience, their sit-down full-service restaurant awaits, catering to your every need. For a truly unique culinary adventure, don’t miss the Villains Lair—an outdoor patio that hosts 3-4 rotating restaurants, providing a diverse and exciting array of dining options.

About Modern Times’ Leisuretown
In 2014, the Mayor of Anaheim wanted to bring more breweries and distillers into the area; a move to encourage this began, including the elimination of red tape, procedural bottlenecks and other problems that stood in the way of beginning a new alcohol-based business in the area.
That effort resulted in some 20 craft brewers beginning operations in Anaheim. Leisuretown is one of those who came to do business.
In July of 2020, a press release was issued announcing the grand opening of Modern Times’ Leisuretown, “After four years of construction and restoration”. COVID-19 didn’t stop the facility from opening, but operations were definitely scaled back with respect to public health. Now that there are vaccines and unrestricted travel has resumed, Leisuretown is reopened to the public.
Leisuretown was described as an “aquatic party palace” featuring a full-scale brewery and beer garden, a pool, and bar service featuring more than 70 taps. Some of the beer is locally brewed, but there are plenty of other selections from San Diego, Portland, and elsewhere along the coast.
Modern Times’ Leisuretown Permanently closed in October 2022. Villains Brewing opened in June 2023.
