Orange County has three one star MICHELIN restaurants and 11 Bibi Gourmand honorees. For 2023/2024, Orange County restaurants Kaori Sushi, Poppy & Seed, Ramen & Tsukemen TAO and Rebel Omakase and Taira Sushi & Sake have been added to the guide list.
MICHELIN Ratings Guide
According to the MICHELIN Guide, the star ratings are meant to convey the following messages:
- One star: High quality cooking, worth a stop!
- Two stars: Excellent cooking, worth a detour!
- Three stars: Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey!
Restaurants may receive zero to 3 stars for the quality of their food based on five criteria:
- Quality of the ingredients used
- Mastery of flavor and cooking techniques
- The personality of the chef in his cuisine
- Value for money
- Consistency between visits
Bib Gourmand: Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking. Bib Gourmand restaurants do not have a MICHELIN star but the food must still be delicious, and the total cost for three courses should come to under a certain amount, depending on the local cost of living.
A restaurant in the selection without a star or Bib Gourmand is the sign of a chef using quality ingredients that are well cooked; simply a good meal.
