Taco Bell is one of America’s most loved Mexican-American fast food chains. And if you are a regular patron, you likely have a few favorites that you go to. But like any restaurant, they often change up the menu to add and remove items, appeal to changing food trends, and attract new patrons. Sometimes our favorite items get dropped, like the enchirito and the 7-layer burrito. Sometimes, things are dropped, but public demand prompts them to bring it back, like the Mexican Pizza. But lucky for you, some of those items can be recreated or ordered with a few easy hacks. If you want to get in on that, check out this list of Taco Bell secret menu items and hacks.

BellGrande Dip
How to order it: Ask for a nachos bellgrande, but request the chips in one container and all the toppings in another. Then, mix all the toppings together and dip your chips right in. You can always ask for an extra side of cheese too if you like it extra cheesy.
Cheesarito
This one was an old menu item made with Mexican Pizza Sauce, green onions, and cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla.
How to order it: Order a cheese roll up and red sauce. Taco bell no longer serves green onions.
CopyCat 7-Layer Burrito
How to order it: Ask for a fiesta veggie burrito, no tortilla strips or chipotle sauce, and add lettuce. The fiesta veggie burrito comes with black beans, so you’ll have to ask them to also sub in pinto beans instead.
Doritos Shell
Add a Doritos flavor blast to any taco on the menu by asking them to swap out the tortilla for these shells.
Double Grilled & Grilled
If you don’t love soggy quesadillas? Ask them to double grill it for an extra crispy shell. If you want your burritos to have a crispy outer layer, you can ask for those to be grilled as well.
DIY Double Decker Taco
How to order it: Order a cheesy gordita crunch and ask them to use a regular flour tortilla instead of a flatbread on the outside layer.
Enchirito
This fan favorite menu item was pulled from the menu in 2013 and returned briefly to the menu in 2022.
How to order it: You can sometimes ask them to make it, just by requesting it by name, or you can ask for an enchilada with beef, beans, and cheese. But beware — some locations will make it, and some may say it’s no longer available.
Fiesta Potatoes BellGrande
How to order it: Ask for a nachos bellgrande and then ask them to take out the chips and sub in potatoes instead. If you’re vegetarian, you can request black beans instead of beef.
Fresco Style?
When Taco Bell had pico de gallo, Fresco Style meant the sauce and cheese was removed and they added fresh pico de gallo. Most locations no longer have pico, so Fresco Style now removes mayo-based sauces, cheeses, and reduced-fat sour cream, and adds diced tomatoes.
The Hulk
How to order it: Add Guac to your bean and cheese burrito.
The Incredible Hulk
How to order it: Ask for a five layer burrito with guac instead of nacho cheese sauce.
Lava Sauce
Taco Bell took Lava Sauce off the menu in 2016, but you can recreate it yourself. Just ask for a side of nacho cheese sauce and you can stir in 2 or 3 packets of fire sauce.
Meximelt
The original meximelt was a flour tortilla, ground beef, cheese, and fiesta salsa.
How to order it: Ask for a regular soft taco, with diced tomatoes instead of lettuce.
Nacho “Fries”
How to order it: Order a side of cheesy fiesta potatoes, add shredded cheese, tomatoes, and your choice of meat.
Nacho BellGrande Hack
How to order it: Ask for a Nachos BellGrande, no ground beef, chicken instead; no nacho cheese, sub the 3-cheese blend instead, add guac and jalapenos.
Superman
How to order it: Order a beefy melt burrito with guac, sour cream, potatoes, and tortilla strips.
Tie-Dye Freeze
A tie-dye freeze is just a combination of Taco Bell’s freeze flavors and Baja Blasts. The available flavors may vary by location.
How to order it: Just ask for them to add a mix of the flavors you would like. If they won’t do it for you, you can order more than one and mix them yourself.
You can also make a “cloudy skies” baja blast by asking for half pink lemonade, half baja blast.
Queso Dip
You can’t order Taco Bell’s Salsa Con Queso from the regular menu but you can make a queso dip with this simple hack.
How to order it: Order nacho cheese sauce and a side of tomatoes with your hot sauce packet of choice and mix all three ingredients yourself. You can also order a side of jalapenos to mix in as well or substitute for the hot sauce.
